Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan was born in and brought up at home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam was a backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. In the age of five Her father was appointed as City's Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. The family then moved into this historical building. In 2005 she was a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as singer-music major. Sullivan started singing as a contralto in the children's choirand a few years later in the adult choir. Sullivan did not get aware of secular music at first. "When I was eleven year old, a person asked to enroll me on an album of gospel music. I was not going to make that decision," she says. At that time, McDonald's held a contest for kids in big cities. I was able to perform "Accept The Grace God Gives" on the show Showtime At the Apollo. And the public was extremely supportive. Stevie Wonder sang her part at her grandson's 13th birthday. Sullivan had signed her first contract with Jive Records when she was fifteen. As a teenager, she was signed to Jive Records. They recorded her whole album at Jive Records, however it wasn't released. Sullivan was eventually dismissed by the label. They had a strong working relations along with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced many of her tracks which included "Backstabbers" that was written by Timbaland.
